Happiness: The story of a Tyrolean first ascent legend

His inner drive to discover new routes has made the Ötztal climber Markus Haid an extremely diligent explorer over the years. Happiness tells the story of his search for the perfect line.

Successful in 2002 Markus Haid, a previously unknown climber from the Ötztal, made the first ascent of one of the most difficult lines in Tyrol with Mordor. The very athletic line, which also fits aesthetically perfectly into the mystical Niederthai forest climbing area, was Markus' first self-drilled tour and the initial spark for his passion for development.

Markus has now been able to climb over 300 routes for the first time, most of them with a difficulty level of 8a or more. He is still constantly looking for the next Kingline. Happiness is his latest achievement. A route that comes pretty close to his vision of the perfect line.
