Simon Gietl: First solo integral Tre Cime traverse in winter

Between February 24 and 25, South Tyrolean Simon Gietl successfully completed the first solo ascent of the traverse on the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in winter. He connected the Cima Ovest, Cima Grande, Cima Piccola, Punta di Frida and Cima Piccolissima.

A first winter ascent of the Tre Cime was succesfully made by Simon, together with the German alpinist Michi Wohlleben, about three years ago (LACRUX reported ). Now Simon Gietl did the winter traverse alone. For the ascent, he did a bivouac between the Cima Ovest and the Cima Grande.
