Taiwan's Grace Tseng sets speed record on Manaslu

Taiwanese Grace Tseng reached the summit of Manaslu in just 4 hours on October 13th. This makes her the fastest woman to reach the summit of the eight-thousander without oxygen.

While all expedition providers and Manaslu aspirants gave up their attempts on the mountain and declared the season over, Grace Tseng stormed towards the summit of Manaslu with the support of three Sherpas from provider Dolma Outdoor. Grace Tseng and Dolma Outdoor were apparently not deterred by the still high avalanche danger on the mountain at the time of the ascent.

Last Monday at 7.30 a.m. Grace Tseng was on the Manaslu – only 13 hours after the start at the base camp. The young Taiwanese set a new record with this. A woman has never been faster on the Manaslu. Grace Tseng did not use artificial oxygen. She climbed with Nima Gyalzen Sherpa to Camp 3, where they were joined by Phurba Thiley Sherpa and Lakpa Tamang.
