Kim Marschner and Jan Hojer end their competitive careers

For many years, Kim Marschner and Jan Hojer successfully competed in national and international competitions as members of the DAV squad. Not anymore. The two climbers announced their definitive retirement for the 2023 season.

As the German Alpine Club writes on its website, the two long-standing squad members are moving Kim Marschner and Jan Hojer put an end to their competitive careers. Jan Hojer had already stopped competing in 2022, Kim Marschner's last appearance at international level was at the Boulder World Cup in Meiringen in 2022.

23 World Cups and several World Championships

Despite his young age of 25, Kim Marschner can look back on an 11-year competitive career. Overall, he competed in 23 World Cups, several World Championships and numerous European Youth Cups and national competitions.

Over the years, Kim Marschner has repeatedly drawn attention to himself with hard ascents on the rock. Forgotten Gem (8C), Cherry on Top (8B+), Ninjutsu (8B+), Fight Club (8B+) or Peace Corps (8C) are just a few examples. Most successful German climber

Jan Hojer, who is also ending his competitive career, is the most successful German competitive climber. According to the DAV, in addition to 16 German championship titles, he won six gold, four silver and four bronze medals at world cups and world championships. There are also two European championship titles and four youth European cup victories.

With a total of 69 top ten placements, the DAV says goodbye to Jan Hojer, the most successful German climber.
