The legendary Swiss crack climber Didier Berthod secured the first ascent of the longest roof crack boulder in Squamish on February 8, 2024 - and did so in the worst possible conditions. This video documents his ascent.
The Gold Rush boulder is a nearly 10-meter-long and completely overhanging crack boulder in Squamish, Canada. The Kingline was discovered by Tristan Salson, a friend of Didier berthodSalson showed Berthod a picture of the line at Christmas and offered the Swiss "Crack Wizard" the opportunity to design the line.
And so Berthod set off with a group of friends to take a closer look at the line. Highly motivated, they arrived at the dark and damp cave and felt like gold diggers who had struck a vein.
Despite the extremely poor conditions, the project was diligently planned and the Berthod line was then climbed for the first time. The story of the climb is shown in the film "Gold Rush" by Wildentertainment Productions.
