In March 2019, Spanish climber Edu Marin completed the red point ascent of the longest overhanging roof route in the world. Now the full length film about the route Valhalla (9a+) in Getu, China, is available online.
It was one of the most complex projects in his career Edu Marin. Setting up the 380 meter long multi-pitch tour alone took several months. Ten rope lengths, around 250 meters of climbing, run through the completely overhanging roof of the impressive cave Getu in China.
For a long time it was not clear whether the route was even climbable. But Edu Marin, his brother and father didn't let that deter them. They traveled to China several times to drill the route and then plan it until Edu Marin managed to climb it without falling in March 2019. Vallhalla is not only the longest overhanging roof route in the world, but also one of the most difficult multi-pitch routes in the world.
