New wildlife areas and wildlife sanctuaries | 2021

The Federal Office for the Environment FOEN has published the updated data on wildlife quiet zones and wildlife sanctuaries. It is one of the biggest adjustments in recent years.

For the first time in the canton of Ticino, 34 legally binding and 3 recommended game rest areas with different protection times and regulations have been set aside. The canton of Solothurn am Weissenstein is now reporting a legally binding game rest zone.

In the canton of Bern, legally binding wilderness areas on Engstlenalp have been published, which have been in force since 2012. In the canton of Graubünden, near Zernez, Vaz / Obervaz and Flims, new game rest areas have been designated or expanded. In St. Gallen, the revised wilderness areas in the municipality of Quarten are legally binding and a new and popular ski touring route has been eliminated in the federal hunting banned area Säntis.
