Mittelaletschbiwak completely destroyed by avalanche

As the Swiss Alpine Club SAC communicated today, the Mittelaletschbiwak was completely destroyed by an avalanche.

It was a mountain guide traveling the area, spotting the remains of the bivouac. Due to the force of the avalanche the Mittelaletschbiwak was completely destroyed. As soon as conditions allow, the Diablerets section will investigate the situation on the ground. Whether and when the bivouac will be rebuilt can not be said at the moment. One thing is for sure: for the 2019 season, alpinists can not hope for the accommodation.
