Lee, Ginés López and Ondra on the podium | Results Olympic Qualifier Series Shanghai

Korea's Dohyun Lee secured the gold medal at the first Olympic Qualifier event in Shanghai ahead of Spain's Alberto Ginés López and Czech Adam Ondra. The Swiss Sascha Lehmann finished the competition in fifth place.

At the first event of the Olympic Qualifier Series have Dohyun Lee, Alberto Gines Lopez and Adam Ondra A podium finish put him in a comfortable position for an Olympic ticket. The veteran Adam Ondra was also able to stay in the top five throughout, even though he felt a lot of pressure in qualifying. “In the lead I wanted to control everything too much, which led to me falling much earlier than I thought.”

On the other hand, Ondra was able to improve in bouldering from round to round. While he finished the semi-finals as second best, he was the only one to achieve two tops in the final.

Next to the Frenchman Paul Jenft probably in fourth place too Sascha Lehmann be very satisfied with his 5th final place. The Swiss qualified for the semi-finals in 13th place, finished fourth and finished the final in fifth place thanks to a strong performance in his flagship discipline, Lead.

The final places 6 to 8 were shared by the young Belgian Hannes Van Duysen, the Briton Hamish McArthur and the Frenchman Sam Avezou.
