A recent safety inspection shows that the future of the Rätikon climbing hall is in a critical state. The aging climbing walls only partially meet safety requirements. As a result, the operating license expires at the end of October 2025 - an extension is not possible without comprehensive measures.
What originally started as a renovation project has developed into an urgent rescue operation. The measures approved at the general meeting of the SAC Prättigau section in March 2024 with a total budget of CHF 650 remain in place. Despite intensive efforts by the project team, however, the search for sponsors is proving extremely difficult. After several months, only around CHF 000 has been collected.
We must work together to preserve this important place.
Nina Caprez
Sport climbing professional Nina Caprez, who grew up in Küblis and made her first climbs in the Rätikon hall, also supports the rescue: "This hall is not only part of my personal history - above all, it is the future for the next generation of climbers in an entire region. We must work together to do everything we can to preserve this important place."
Climbing Friends Day: Together for the Future of the Hall
The youth organization (JO) of the SAC Prättigau, together with the project team, is organizing a day for climbing enthusiasts on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 14.00 p.m.
We invite young and young at heart to come and see for themselves

In addition to climbing and exchanging ideas, the JO will be holding a sponsored run. Bratwurst, rolls and beer will be provided for the physical well-being - all proceeds will go to the rescue project.
The Rätikon climbing hall is not only a training location for up to 90 young people from the JO, but also a popular meeting place for the local climbing community and an important bad weather alternative for guests. Schools, vocational schools and other sports clubs regularly use the facility. "Time is of the essence. Without the necessary financial means, we will have to close the climbing hall at the end of October," explains Nett. "We depend on every support - every contribution counts."
