Alpinist falls into crevasses on the ascent to Tödi

On Sunday, May 09.05.2021th, 08.45, XNUMX a.m., a serious mountain accident occurred on the ascent to Tödi, Glarus Süd municipality.

A 43-year-old ski tourer was accompanied by other alpinists on the ascent over the Bifertenfirn in the direction of Tödi. At around 3400 m above sea level Suddenly a snow bridge collapsed under him.

It fell about 15 to 20 meters deep into a crevasse. The rescue workers, alerted immediately, were able to rescue the injured person. Because of the serious injuries, he was flown to Zurich University Hospital. The course of the accident is being investigated.

More than 20 people were deployed from the Glarnerland Alpine Rescue, Rega, Heli Linth and the police.
