Anyone who claims that you can no longer climb hard when you are older will definitely be proven wrong by Alex Huber. The climbing legend has made the first ascent of Mythos (8c+), a new test piece, on the Barmsteine in Berchtesgaden.
Alex Hubers The latest creation on the striking rock towers northeast of Berchtesgaden is something special: Myth measures an impressive 76 meters and checks in at 8c+. According to the 25-year-old climbing professional, there is not a single decent hold or foothold in the 55-meter-long crux. The last hard move has to be carried out 60 meters above the ground. "A tough task for the climbing psyche."
Mythos is something like a small marathon. Only vertical, but anything but trivial.

Back in Life
With Mythos, Alex Huber seems to have definitely found his old form after his stroke of fate at the beginning of the year. In February, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which fortunately could be completely removed.
After a three-month break without sport or other physical exertion, he fought his way back to life in a very short time by climbing a difficult route on the Brendelberg. He named the 70-meter-long route that he opened Survival (7c, 7b and 8b).
