What was already hinted at in Gorges du Loup continues in France: Laura Rogora has once again made climbing history with the onsight ascent of La Ligne Claire (8c+) in Saint-Léger.
Two 8c+ onsight climbs in one year
After Ultimate Sacrifice, this is already the second route of this difficulty level that the Italian woman has completed on her first attempt. A feat previously accomplished by only two people: Alex Megos and Adam OndraFor Rogora, this is a truly remarkable milestone, especially considering her age. "After climbing my first 8c+ onsight this summer, I was sure it would be really tough to do it again. I never would have expected to repeat it just a few months later," the 24-year-old reported on Instagram.
Her latest coup with La Ligne Claire, being able to onsight another 8c+, finally came on the last day of her stay and cements her place at the top of sport climbing.
Laura's tick list from Saint-Leger
The ascent marks the highlight so far of an exceptionally strong road trip across Europe's top sport climbing areas. The 2024 European Champion, however, was not in a holiday mood and was in top form. After stops in Arco, Gorges du Loup, and most recently Saint-Léger, success follows success: In addition to the onsight ascent in Saint-Léger, she achieved several difficult redpoint ascents there, including the classics. Super Crackinette (9a +) and Le Cadafist (9a/+), needing only four attempts for the latter line. Also the first female ascent by Adam Ondras La Castagne (9a+) was hers in Saint-Léger. After La Line Claire, the Italian also claimed the first pitch of La Tournee du Patron (8b+) onsight and climbed the second pitch (8c) on the second go redpoint. The onsight of Abrège Nief (8b) finally ends her Saint-Léger trip more than successfully.
This series of headlines about Laura Rogora continues. Two 8c+ onsight ascents in one year and eleven routes graded 9a or harder – we repeat: Laura Rogora is unstoppable.
