60 meter crack solo: Tom Randall climbs the hardest offwidth of his career

Urban Crack Climbing 2.0: Tom Randall successfully completed his daring offwidth project in Berlin. Equipped with a climbing harness, magnesium and a single 5-cam, he climbed the 60-meter-long offwidth crack on the underside of a massive bridge.

As a Tom randall At the beginning of July about his new Riss project in the German capital When he spoke, his strategy sounded plausible, but also quite daring: "Basically, you climb solo and are careful. If you want to do a short bathang rest, you put a cam and take it out again after the break." Recently, Randall managed to put his vision into practice.

That was the hardest offwidth of my career.

Epic ascent in the middle eighth French grade

When planning the project in early July, Rom Randall estimated the difficulty level of his latest Urban Crack project to be mid-8th French grade. At the time, after a promising attempt, he said: "The current link was about XNUMXb/+, but foot pain will probably be more of a limiting factor than a pump on the hand clamps."

How difficult he judges the entire tear to be remains to be seen. What is certain is that this offwidth tear took everything out of him, mentally and physically.

As with many other difficult crack projects, Tom Randall prepared for his ascent in the legendary basement of the Wide Boyz. And once again, this intensive form of training paid off.
