European Climbing Championships 2024 in Villars: Livestream & Programme

From August 24th to September 1st, the European Climbing Championships will take place in Villars-sur-Ollon in the disciplines of bouldering, lead, speed and in the Olympic format Boulder&Lead. For the first time ever, para-athletes will also be climbing for medals at the European Championships. Here you can find all the important information from the program to the live stream.

Things are happening in quick succession. After the Olympic Games in Paris, the European Championship in sport climbing on the doorstep. In the Swiss Villars sur Ollon From August 24th to September 1st, Europe's strongest climbers will compete in the disciplines of bouldering, lead, speed, bouldering & lead. For the first time, para-athletes will also compete for medals at this event.

Livestream: How to follow the European Championships

The semi-finals and finals of the men's and women's competitions will be broadcast live worldwide on the IFSC YouTube channel streamed. However, this does not apply to countries within Europe. As communicated in 2021, the International Sport Climbing Federation is one Cooperation with the paid streaming platform Discovery+ received.

Accordingly, viewers in Europe can watch the semi-finals and finals live Discovery + and / or the Eurosport Player track, provided they buy a corresponding subscription.

For those who can't or don't want to do that, you have two options: You can wait a day, as each round will be available to watch for free on the Olympic Channel 24 hours later. Or they get a VPN client such as NordVPN and watch all World Cups in real time from now on.

These athletes are competing

The starting list for the European Championships in Villars includes Olympic participants Sam Avezou, Hamish McArthur, Luka Potocar, Sascha Lehmann, Oriane Bertone, Molly Thompson-Smith, Erin McNeice, Ievgeniia Kazbekova and Lucia Dörffel.

But other well-known faces from the World Cup circus such as Hannah Meul, Manon Hily, Nicolai Uznik, Elias Arriagada Krüger and Filip Schenk are also taking part. The latter in particular should be highly motivated to climb onto the podium in Villars after his fourth place in Munich.

Switzerland at home European Championship with large delegation

Switzerland, as the organizing nation, is taking part with a large delegation: the Swiss Climbing Team is led by Sascha Lehmann. With their recent semi-finals at the Lead World Cups in Briançon and Chamonix, Liv Egli, Jonas Utelli and Nino Grünenfelder have also shown that they are in good shape and that a place among the top 24 is realistic.

"In bouldering, we also have two athletes, Sofya Yokoyama and Julien Clémence, who are aiming for the semi-finals and recently demonstrated their potential at the World Cup in Innsbruck," says Kevin Hemund, Head Coach of the Swiss Climbing Team.
