The DAV national team lacks money – appeal for donations from Megos

"We need your support – we need your donations!" With these words, Alex Megos addresses the public. The German Alpine Association has postponed its decision to increase support for athletes for one year.

A call from Alexander Megos

We, the athletes of the German Alpine Club (DAV) national team in sport climbing, strive to deliver top performances and achieve top placings for the German team in international competitions. However, the current conditions are very difficult:

  • Some of us have to raise several thousand euros to be able to compete in World Cups.
  • The same applies to training measures: some of us have to cover the travel costs ourselves.

What are the reasons for the financial bottlenecks?

For one thing, the decision to improve the structure and funding of competitive sports within the German Athletics Association (DAV) has been postponed by a year until late fall. And for another, the German Sports Aid Foundation (Deutsche Sporthilfe) has significantly reduced some of its funding. As a result, the careers in competitive sports are at stake for some of us, because not everyone can cope with the new and additional financial burdens.

That's why we need your support – every contribution helps! This allows us to share the additional burden in solidarity – for the benefit of those who share our passion for climbing and need our support.
