What a final! After everything had looked like the 16-year-old Japanese in the qualification and in the semi-finals Sorato Anraku would march through to the world championship title, the tide turned as the competition went on. In the end it was enough for the veteran Michael Mawem in the fourth boulder already a zone for World Cup gold.
Strong start for almost all finalists
At the first final boulder, the top-class starting field was still close together: Schalck, Mawem and Anraku flashed the problem, Lee needed three attempts, Fujii and Uznik secured the zone. The second boulder delivered a similar result: tops for Mawem, Lee and Anraku, zones for Schalck, Uznik and Fujii.

The tide turns at boulder three
Something like a turning point was problem three, a jump & run boulder that only the two French were able to top. The Korean Dohyun Lee still fought for the zone, the remaining three finalists went away empty-handed.
Nicolai Uznik showed his strength again on the Boulder M4 and was the only one to reach the top. Dohyun Lee and Kokoro Fujii. Mejdi Schalck solved the campus moves relatively quickly, but was no longer able to control the final grip.

Mickael Mawem keeps his nerve
So it was clear for Mickael Mawem: If he succeeds in a zone or a top, he is the new bouldering world champion. Said and done. Cheered on by the crowd, he once again gathered all his strength and shot into the zone.
When the last Sorato Anraku stepped onto the mat, the bouldering world champion was already certain. However, the remaining podium places were open. However, the Japanese youngster was unable to solve boulder four and had to make do with the thankless fourth place. Mickael Mawem and Mejdi Schalck were all the happier about the French double victory.
