USA celebrate double victory at the second Bouldering World Cup in Salt Lake City

Last night the final of the second bouldering competition took place in Salt Lake City. Sean Bailey and Natalia Grossman won gold in front of their home crowd.

The 25 year old Sean bailey from the USA celebrated the first World Cup gold medal of his career after a nerve-wracking final.

I never thought that day would come and it's crazy that it came. We had some pretty tough boulders and I gave it my all. The mood of the audience was just great!

The two Japanese stood next to Sean Bailey on the men's podium Kokoro Fujii and Tomoa Narasaki in ranks two and three. Fujii finished the final with a top and four zones while Narasaki got a top and three zones.

Second World Cup victory for Natalia Grossman

Fetched from the ladies Natalia Grossman (19) her second World Cup victory in a row by dominating the round and prevailing against a group of experienced climbers, including the Slovenian Janja Garnbret, the Japanese Miho Nonaka and the Serbian Stasa Gejo belonged to.

Grossman flashed all final boulders and was therefore at the top of the podium. For the 19-year-old athlete, it is only the third medal in her young career. In Meiringen she won bronze, gold a week ago and now double her with another win here in Salt Lake City in the menu.

I always try to be as confident as possible, but the fourth boulder problem seemed to be the hardest. Last week's gold medal definitely gave me a bit of confidence for today's competition.

The silver medal went to Garnbret, who also achieved four tops and four zones, but required more attempts than Natalia. The US Olympic contender Brooke Raboutou completed the podium with third place.
