Hazel Grace (8c) by Nalle Hukkataival and Gabriele Moroni repeated

The 8c Boulder Hazel Grace on the Gotthard Pass experienced in the past few days a few repetitions: None other than the Finn Nalle Hukkataival and the Italian Gabriele Moroni were on the Gotthard road and repeated the line.

It was the Swiss National Holiday (1 August) last year, when the Ticino Giuliano Cameroni opened a new boulder on the Gotthard Pass: Hazel Grace (8c - Article and video). Until recently, no-one has dared or even defeated the block to our knowledge. This changed with the visit of some strong athletes. Nalle Hukkataival, Gabriele Moroni and Dave Graham make the Swiss Blöcker uncertain. An ascent by Hazel Grace reported so far Nalle Hukkataival and Gabriele Moroni.

Hazel Grace devalued on 8b +

A piquant detail can be found in the route book by Gabriele Moroni. He carried Hazel Grace with 8b + and evaluated the Boulder. Nalle, for his part, still spoke of an 8c.

In this boulder foot technology is required: Kingda Ka (8b)

Another testpiece of Giuliano Cameroni is Kingda Ka (8b). Nalle also repeated this boulder.

Ultralight climbing harness tested: Petzl Whisper

If I'm honest, I was immediately impressed with the Whisper climbing harness the first time I put it on. The feeling? Almost as if I wasn't wearing a harness at all. For me, as someone who often hikes in the Alps, every gram counts – and at just 170 g (size M), this harness has really impressed me on long alpine tours.

More helps more? | Why "climbing more" doesn't make you stronger faster

Some swear by training plans, others prefer to improve by spending as much time on the wall as possible. One myth is particularly persistent: If you simply climb a lot, you'll get stronger faster, even without targeted training.
