Sometimes it's not about the hardest ascents, but the fastest. Multi-talented Alex Honnold has now set a new record on the legendary Plumber's Crack in the Red Rocks.
Alex Honnold is not just for daredevils Free Solos, but also for particularly fast ascents of big walls. The American climber's latest challenge was a little less high: Plumber's Crack, an iconic boulder in the Red Rocks, Nevada.
Probably the fastest V2 in the world
On the block, which is divided by a downward tapering whole-body crack, the first attempt was Alex Waterhouse He took on a very special challenge: the fastest ascent of the line – including the descent via sliding. The Briton set the first "world record" for the boulder a few weeks ago with a time of 25,97 seconds.
The Plumber's Crack Despite its height of 12 meters, it is rated only with an American V2 and a French 5+. To beat Waterhouse's record, Honnold teamed up with a group of British parkour and speedrunning athletes.
Also present as a “representative of normal people with a fear of heights”: the Swedish professional climber Emil Abrahamson.
