New Trad-Drytooling testpiece opened: The Unfinished (D10)

With Die Unfertigete, Peter von Känel and Silvan Schüpbach succeed in making the first ascent of a challenging trad drytooling route on the Stockhorn.

The two alpinists describe the route The Unfinished as a new test piece on Stockhorn in the Bernese Oberland. «If you like adventurous, challenging and physical trad climbing without bolts, then this is the right place for you," the two comment.

For the inspection, von Känel and Schupbach A double cam set up to size 3, wedges, peckers and a headlamp are required. A headlamp because, according to the first climbers, the route takes quite a long time.

Despite the early start and the enormous effort, we ran out of mental and physical strength shortly before the exit

"We tried to complete the route in one intense and long day in February 2025 and to climb it redpoint style." Despite an early start and enormous effort, the two ran out of "psychological resources" and energy shortly before the exit and turned back. Now the two are calling on the climbing community to try the route.

"If you redpoint the route up to the second-to-last station, you've earned a wet handshake and a beer. And you can take the pecker at the last station as a personal trophy." The last rope length is probably easier to climb in climbing shoes, say the two first ascents.

Who will accept the challenge?
