Since Edelrid launched the Pinch belay device, a debate has flared up about which device is better: Pinch or Grigri. HowNot2 took a closer look at the Pinch and tested it in various situations.
In his latest episode, Ryan Jenks from HowNot2 spoke to Edelrid athlete Tommy Caldwell and discussed the belay device with the professional climber pinch Caldwell uses the Pinch in numerous climbing situations, sometimes even for non-approved applications.
Jenks has tested in his laboratory whether the pinch works reliably even in tricky and unforeseen situations and how it compares to the grigri behaves.
