Black Diamond recalls Neve Strap crampons

Black Diamond Equipment, in collaboration with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, is voluntarily recalling the Neve Strap crampons (green version 2024) and related accessories/replacements.

This recall affects all green Neve Strap Crampons (400073 model #2024) sold between January and May 2024 (see details below). The recall also includes the Neve Strap Binding Accessory Kit (Model #400683) and the Neve Strap Heel Cup Screw & Nuts (Model #400687). It does not apply to the Neve Pro crampons models or previous orange versions of the Neve Strap crampons.

The reason for the voluntary recall is the screws that connect the plastic heel cup to the aluminum heel unit of the Neve Strap crampons. These can become loose, causing the heel cup to detach from the crampons and creating a risk of falling. In three reported cases this occurred during deployment, although no injuries were reported.

Customers who own the green Black Diamond Neve Strap Crampon and/or Neve Strap Binding Accessory Kit sold between January and May 2024 should immediately stop using them and contact Black Diamond for a refund.

Black Diamond Europe will provide a full refund for the affected product!
