A call for self-control: Mammut Skywalker Pro Via Ferrata Set

Mammut is urging customers to check their Via Ferrata sets. The Skywalker Pro and Skywalker Pro Turn sets are affected. Find out here if your set might be affected and what exactly you should check.

As part of a quality assurance process, Mammut identified a potential problem with the locking mechanism of the carabiners used in the Skywalker Pro Via Ferrata- and Skywalker Pro Turn Via Ferrata Sets should be used.
These are two possible malfunctions of the carabiner, which occur particularly at cold temperatures and can therefore impair the safety of the product.
The cause was traced to the plastic locking arms of the carabiner. These can easily bend inwards due to external influences during production, transport, or storage. If they are subsequently exposed to low temperatures, the clasp can stiffen, restricting the movement of the carabiner and potentially preventing it from closing properly.

  3. Leave the via ferrata set for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
